I love this time of year, but it makes for poor blog fodder. Listings slow on Kijiji and Craigslist Montreal, estate sales and auctions halt, and dealers close up shop. Expect more in the new year, but I’ll leave you for now with a few choice vintage furniture finds. Happy holidays!
Glass & Steel Table
Few details for this metal and glass table (it’s size being the most egregious omission) but it has an interesting shape and patina. Dealer also has a cool overblown wing chair for $40 to reupholster, plus a solid wood desk for $100 that needs refinishing.
Lachine. MMRC. Asking $60. DEAL
Vintage Dresser + Mirror
Long wood ’70s looking dresser with simple tab hardware and matching mirror.
Montreal. Asking $35. DEAL
Calligaris Round Dining Set
A modern round metal and glass dining table plus four white and orange Calligaris chairs, originally purchased at Mariette Clermont. Seller’s moving, and has many other contemporary pieces for sale.
Outremont. Asking $200. DEAL
Teak Shelving Unit
Very large teak bookcase or wall shelving unit in three sections, one of which includes a drop-down bar cabinet. Perfect for a loft or basement.
Verdun. Asking $250. DEAL
Retro Nightstand + Quatrefoil Table
Liked how the tops of this vintage nightstand and accent table were decoupaged with a 1929 newspaper.
Berthierville. $35 each. DEAL
IKEA Klippan Sofa
Basic loveseat from IKEA, from their Klippan series, with a patchwork slipcover. Retails new between $300-$400.
Montreal. Asking $75. APPEAL
And if furniture refinishing’s up your alley, take a look at local dealer Benjamin Curran’s new YouTube series showcasing some of his projects – the before and after on these nasty Eames chairs is startling.
Merry Christmas to you Jennifer, found a WONDERFUL Victorian piece
…Gayle of love shopping this time of year very
on CL today for a steal
few people out
Too true, Gayle – there’s less out there, but sometimes the stress of the season leads to “must get rid of it” deals – glad you scored a good piece! I just picked up a 9×12′ vegetable dyed wool kashan for $100 from a woman who’s redecorating before her in-laws descend…
I’ll be very busy with family over the next few weeks, but I doubt I’ll be able to cut myself off completely
If I spot anything major, I’ll definitely squeeze in onto the blog. Merry Christmas, Gayle!
